Mandatory food information for every product page
ZutatenKlar finds ingredients, allergens and nutrition values of your food products in Open Food Facts; you review and approve. A block shows everything on the product page – allergens in bold, nutrition as a table, in seven languages.

What the EU Food Information Regulation requires
- Before purchase
In distance selling, the mandatory information must be available before the purchase is concluded – except the best-before or use-by date.
- The mandatory particulars

- Highlight allergens
The 14 substances in Annex II must stand out from the rest of the ingredients list, for example in bold.
- Nutrition declaration
Energy, fat, saturates, carbohydrate, sugars, protein and salt – per 100 g or 100 ml, as a table.
Features
Suggestions from Open Food Facts
By barcode or name, the app finds ingredients, allergens and nutrition values. You check them against the packaging and approve.
Allergens in bold, automatically
The app detects the 14 Annex II allergens even in “wheat flour” or “skimmed milk powder” – and not in “coconut milk”.
Gaps at a glance
For each food product you see what is still missing under Article 9. Exemptions such as spices or spirits are taken into account – and that wine needs ingredients and nutrition.
Nutrition table
In the order of the regulation; kcal is calculated from kJ. The net quantity comes from the title or variant.
Product page block
Uses your theme’s fonts and colors and changes the quantity with the selected variant.
Seven languages
German, English, French, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Polish – with the official terms of the regulation.
CSV import and exportBasic+
Maintain many food products at once, for example with data from the manufacturer.
Assignment by supplierPro
Add several food business operators and assign products automatically through the “Vendor” field.
Large catalogs too
From 1,000 products, the app works with a copy of the product data that Shopify keeps up to date.
How the information comes together
Open Food Facts is kept as our own copy on our server – your products never leave it. Only what you approve appears in your store.
- Barcode → suggestion
- If your product has an EAN, the app finds it among more than 300,000 products from Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
- Name and brand → choice
- Without a barcode match, the app suggests similar products – you choose the one that really is yours.
- Review → approval
- You check every value against the packaging, add what is missing and approve. If a product is missing entirely, you enter it yourself.
Setup

FAQ
Where do the suggestions come from?
From Open Food Facts, a free food database maintained by volunteers. The app downloads it monthly and keeps the products from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Because volunteers maintain it, you check every suggestion against the packaging before approving it.
What if a product is not in Open Food Facts?
Then you enter the information yourself, in the form or for many products as CSV. The app highlights allergens, calculates kcal from kJ and shows what is still missing.
Which products count as food?
All in the Shopify category “Food, Beverages & Tobacco” (except tobacco). You add other products with one click.
Do I need to change my theme?
No. You add the block to the product page once; it uses your theme’s fonts and colors.
What happens to my data?
The app only works with products, not with customers or orders. The search in Open Food Facts runs on our server; the app stores your food business operators and settings, on servers in Germany. Details in the Privacy Policy.
Does the app replace legal advice?
No. It helps you show the mandatory information completely and consistently. The food business operator remains responsible for it (Art. 8 Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011).
